BIOGRAPHY

Maria K. Mootry:  

 

professor of English and a convener of African-American Studies, co-editor of a collection of essays on Gwendolyn Brooks, A LIFE DISTILLED. She co-founded the POETRY FACTORY in Carbondale,  Illinois in the 1980s.  

 

She encouraged others to write and publish. However,  there is much of her work that is not known to many of  her fans.    Here we share some of her original works.  You can click on a poem or work of art.  Enjoy.
